Schug Cabernet Sauvignon "Rancho Salina Vineyard" 2019
USA, Sonoma Valley
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot
>$50
Description
The 2019 growing season was exceptional. Rancho Salina in the Moon Mountain AVA has volcanic soil and sits 900 feet above the Sonoma Valley at the southern end of the Mayacamas Mountains. This limited-release wine has intense aromas of juicy plum, black cherry, cassis, and blueberry. On the palate, it offers layers of dark fruit, wild berries, spicy oak, hints of minerality, and dark chocolate and fine-grained tannins that give it a balanced and elegant texture and finish. It can be enjoyed on release and paired with rich meats and cheeses, yet it will reward cellaring for a decade or more.
